What’s YOUR Story?

I had the precious privilege of speaking before a group of seniors today.  When I first got there, I thought my company was out of place.  First of all, this was a “Health Fair” and secondly, I was seeing wheel chairs, walkers and canes represented as the crowd started coming in the room.

With a personal development company like, “Dream Achievers Unlimited” and with my flyers ready to advertise my upcoming business seminars, I truly thought someone had made a mistake in scheduling me to have a booth here, as this wasn't scheduled by me.

I soon found out that I was in the RIGHT place at the RIGHT time, and it turned into a memorable day!  Here’s why:

Although sometimes when you see the very elderly, all you notice is how difficult it is for them to get around, and that they have obviously lived the better half of their lives; what you don’t see is the insightful wisdom that sits behind those weary eyes.  You don’t see the remarkable story their lives would tell us.  You can’t imagine the lessons we could learn from them.  When they pass you on the street, or s-l-o-w-l-y move in front of you at the store, you’re not always thinking about what a tremendous contribution they've likely made to our society; perhaps for more years than you've been alive!

It’s easy to just see an old person there, slower than you, and maybe ‘in the way’ of your stride.  But when they open up to you, your whole paradigm can shift to a new appreciation of who they really are, what they have been through,  what they have seen, and what you could learn from them.

"I KNEW THERE WERE BOOKS IN THE ROOM!"

I was scheduled at the last minute to speak to them about becoming an Author.   I opened by reminding them that everyone there had a story to tell, and that the world should hear it!  I mentioned an example of how much of a difference for Les Brown just two sentences from a teacher made for him for the rest of his life, and asked them to think about what their story could do for someone else. Their story could totally shift someone else’s life to be dramatically different and better!

Then, when they started opening up about their own experiences, I KNEW there were books in the room just waiting to be written!  I encouraged them all to begin the process, even doing just a little each day.  By the end of the year, some of them could have a best seller … no joke!  I was happy to realize that three of the people sitting in the room with me, have already begun writing!  Excellent!

SO ... WHAT'S YOUR STORY?

Now, I would like to encourage you to write YOUR story!  Don’t take those gold nuggets to the grave with you when so many people could benefit!  Plus, think of the legacy you will leave.  Long after you’re gone, someone could be curled up on the couch with a kindle in their hands, (who knows if there will be literal ‘books’ down the road) reading and benefiting from your words of wisdom … and in this sense you live on.

There are parts of my story in the book: “TIME MASTERY: Key to Increased Productivity and Profit-ability”, but because it’s primarily a book about ‘time management’ i.e. how to get more done in less time, overcome procrastination, avoid interruptions, set priorities effectively,  increase productivity and profits, I have much more to do regarding getting my own story out there too.   I will be so interested if you decide to write a book, and would love to hear about it! Why not begin the process here by leaving me a comment about your story, or about your thoughts on the subject?  If you leave your email address, I'll send you a GREAT tip on getting self-published at an extraordinarily good rate with top notch quality!   www.timemasterybook.blogspot.com

So, what’s YOUR story?  Why not share it with the world?

To your success,
